In 2024, it is estimated that more than 421,000 Australians live with dementia. Without a medical breakthrough, the number of people with dementia is expected to increase to more than 812,500 by 2054.

Dementia friendly communities are places where people living with dementia feel safe and supported to live well. In these communities, people living with dementia feel understood and valued. This is important as two out of three people with dementia live in their community rather than in residential aged care.
