APPLICATION for Funding for Awareness Raising

The current funding available from PPLI is to support your work as a stakeholder in the awareness raising campaign, Languages Connect which is a key action in the implementation of Languages Connect: Ireland's Strategy for Foreign Languages in Education 2017-2026. The funding can be used to promote greater uptake on any of your undergraduate or post-graduate college courses that include a foreign languages component, to promote the value of taking a foreign language in college, to host events that promote the above, to send students in to schools as language ambassadors to give e.g. talks or workshops at events such as #ThinkLanguages, to promote and support opportunities for students to participate in foreign language study opportunities and work placements abroad, or to raise awareness of the value of linguistic diversity on campus.

NOTE: You may only apply for funding if your department has already submitted a report outlining how any previous funding received was used and what the outcomes were. New applications are welcome.

The maximum amount you may apply for is 10K euro.

* 9. The following criteria are intended to maximise the reach of projects which come under this funding. Please indicate your willingness to collaborate with your colleagues in order to meet each of these.

We will provide a link to resources created and/or info on any previously funded projects and campaigns funded for publication on the Languages Connect website

We will provide a link/s for publication on languagesconnect.ie to projects funded under the current scheme

We will use social media as well as our own websites to promote and disseminate any projects

We will enlist language champions from our student population that could represent us and speak on our behalf at #ThinkLanguages, the TY languages event

I will collate and provide a report outlining outcomes achieved by the end of the coming academic year

I will ensure that my MFL colleagues are made aware of the funding so that there is the opportunity for all of them to contribute to the proposal
