Bus pass Opt-out & HotSpot Mobile Activation

GSA Bus Pass - Valid September 1, 2021 until August 31st, 2022

UNBGSA and Fredericton Transit have partnered with HotSpot Solutions to provide a Digital, Smartphone based bus pass to the Graduate Students at UNB.

The Bus Pass fee is mandatory for all full-time graduate students. 
Part-time students do not need to opt-out.

To opt-out, you need to select “opt-out” in question #1 of the Survey Monkey, and submit valid proof (current address) that you reside outside of the city. 

As per, the contract negotiated between the GSA Executive & Student Council with the City of Fredericton there are no exceptions to the opt-out criteria (this includes UNB parking pass purchase, ownership of a vehicle, or proximity to campus).

Opt-out deadline - September 30th, 2021 - fees will not be removed from student accounts until after the opt-out period has ended and the list has been verified and sent to UNB financial services for processing in mid-October.

You need to opt-out in the Fall term only, each year that you continue to be a Full time student.


To register for the bus pass please ensure you select “activate” in question #1 of the Survey Monkey.

(1) Complete the SurveyMonkey Registration form and upload a copy of your 'confirmation of full time enrollment' letter for Fall 2021 (MyUNB).
(2) Download and add (UNBGSA) on the HotSpot Mobile App.

Only upon registering, in the Survey Monkey, will the Bus Pass be validated for use on the HotSpot App.  Downloading the App alone will not activate the bus pass feature.  

Important:
2020-2021 bus pass holders, if you are currently a graduate student who uses the pass and you do not want to experience a service interruption on September 1, please register with your valid information as soon as possible and before midnight August 30th, 2021. 
After the early activation deadline on August 30th, passes will not be uploaded for activation again until September 7th.

New student passes will not be active until September 1st, and ONLY if registration is completed before midnight August 30th, 2021.

Once the academic year commences on Sept. 7th, please expect a delay (especially on weekends, evenings, and holidays) between registering in the Survey Monkey link and HotSpot App functionality as information needs to be verified and then the system updated, before activation.
