Introduction and Background

Greetings,

Forefront—Illinois’ membership organization of grant makers and operating nonprofits—is committed to building a vibrant and empowered social impact sector. Learning from and being led by communities across Illinois catalyzes Forefront’s ability to build trust and collective power. As such, Forefront’s Racial Equity Collective (REC) of multi-sector leaders and organizations will work together to change practices, policies, and organizational cultures where all Illinoisans can thrive.

Forefront’s first commitment, in solidarity with our partners, is to build a centralized, statewide, and publicly accessible repository of resources to help coordinate our collective efforts to advance racial equity. Racial equity work is defined as seeking to correct or improve historical or contemporary imbalances between racial and ethnic groups that may span political, legal, social, and economic systems. As part of its REC, Forefront partnered with NORC at the University of Chicago to develop a comprehensive mapping tool which shows organizations that are working to improve racial equity in Illinois and offer details about their work. Your organization is invited to showcase its racial equity work on a web-based, publicly available map of Illinois.

This survey gathers basic information about your organization and the focus of its racial equity programs, policies, and/or practitioners. We are seeking one response per organization, and we encourage you to work with colleagues to fill it out completely using your preferred language.  Your contribution will go a long way toward furthering racial equity in Illinois by:
  1. Highlighting your work and sharing best practices
  2. Creating a tool that Illinois non-profit organizations and grant makers can use for networking and coordinated action.
Please take about 20 minutes to help make this map come to life!

By completing this form, you are consenting to share this information with Forefront’s Racial Equity Collective leadership. The information that will be used for the map will be marked with a map icon () and includes information such as your organization name, location, the name of your racial equity program, policy, or practitioner, and a brief description. The rest will be used by Forefront to help identify areas of interest or needs among nonprofits and grant makers working on racial equity in Illinois.

At the end of this form, you can consent to sharing the items marked with the map icon publicly. Forefront will review your information and reach out for any additional clarification on your responses. Please note that completion of this survey does not automatically guarantee your organization will be added to the Racial Equity Collective map.
