1. ABOUT THIS STUDY

Nurses and midwives knowledge and perceptions of the role of the environment can assist in prevention of hospital acquired infections. We hope that this survey will provide better understanding around the importance and knowledge of environmental hygiene. You are invited to participate in a short survey designed to explore nurses perceptions and knowledge in response to cleaning within a clinical setting. All responses are anonymous.
PARTICIPATING IN THIS SURVEY
You will be asked to answer a number of questions about your perception and knowledge with cleaning. There will be questions with responses on a scale of 0-5, multiple choice questions, and YES/NO questions. We are interested in your perceptions and opinions. There are no right or wrong answers.

HOW MUCH TIME WILL IT TAKE?
About 10 minutes.

BENEFITS AND INCENTIVES
With your feedback you can help us understand nurses and midwives perceptions of infection prevention and control and the role of the environment.

POSSIBLE RISKS OR INCONVENIENCES
No risks or inconveniences are anticipated with participating in this survey.

Any contact information you provide to enter the draw for a gift card will be stored separately from your survey responses and all data will be stored in an encrypted form to protect your privacy. The data will be used exclusively to contact you in case you win a gift card.

FUNDING
This project is led by the Avondale College of Higher Education. Avondale College will be responsible for managing the study design, conducting the intervention, data analysis and interpretation, publication and dissemination of results.

RESEARCH TEAM
The lead investigator for this study is Professor Brett Mitchell (Avondale College of Higher Education & University of Newcastle). Other investigators are Associate Professor Philip Russo (Monash University) and Martin Kiernan (University of West London).

CONFIDENTIALITY, ANONYMITY AND DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION
No names or identifiable information are collected in this survey. Data from this study may also be used in future research or may be provided to other researchers but only in a form that does not identify any participant in any way. The data will be stored electronically at Avondale College of Higher Education for a period of 5 years. At the end of the 5 years data will be destroyed.

USE OF INFORMATION COLLECTED
The information collected will be analysed and reported in scientific papers, reports and professional conferences. In any publication, information will be provided in such a way that you cannot be identified.

We will provide updates on the study and findings from the study at this website address: https://ipcca.com.au/nurse-cleaning-study/.  You will therefore be able to find our results from the study, once they are available.

FREEDOM OF CONSENT
Participation in this research is voluntary. It is completely up to you whether or not to participate. Only people who give their informed consent will be included in the study. Even if you agree to participate you may withdraw at anytime without giving a reason. If you decide not to participate, or wish to withdraw from the project at anytime, you will not be disadvantaged. If you chose to withdraw and if it is possible to retrieve, your data will be returned to you.
