Survey: Democracy inside teacher education in South Africa: The politics of process

Dear Prospective participant,

My name is Prof VS Mncube, Dean: Faculty of Education, University of Fort Hare, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa. Currently, I am conducting a study which seeks to examine democracy inside teacher education in South Africa: The politics of Process.

The aim of this research is to produce a report which both exemplifies good practice and provides guidance to improving democratic practice in teacher education in the future. Final copies of the report will be made available to all participating institutions for potential use in staff development.

As part of the study, the research will investigate understandings of democracy in teacher education, examples of democratic good practice and obstacles to democratic practice in teacher education. This online survey should take about 5 to 10 minutes.

Your participation in this study will be voluntary. The only direct cost of participation for you would be the time spent in one individual interview. You may withdraw from participating at any time without any negative consequences. In order to protect the confidentiality of your identity and the information that you provide, we will assign you a pseudonym, make your institution is anonymous, and encrypt data collected from you. Your name and any other data that might point to you will not appear when study results are presented. In addition, your privacy will be protected.
