EVENT SUMMARY AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION
The Town of Bassano excited to announce the 5th annual Small Town Smoke Down BBQ Competition, taking place May 29 - 31, 2026, Community Hall & Homecoming Campground.
Following the success of last year's event, Bassano is excited to host another amateur steak cook-off on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Competition Details:
§ Participants must be 16 years or older. Teams may consist of 1-2 people.
§ Participants must bring their own self-contained, portable BBQ (charcoal or propane only).
§ Two steaks will be provided for cooking. Only these steaks may be used.
§ Participants are responsible for bringing their own spices and seasonings.
§ There is no seating at the event. Please bring your own chairs and sunshades.
§ Slots are limited to 30 participants and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The champion will receive a trophy, a prize pack, and the admiration of their fellow competitors (well, we can’t guarantee that the last part).
Event Schedule:
10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. - Participant check-in and BBQ setup (self-contained BBQs only, charcoal or propane).
10:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. - Opening Ceremonies.
11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. - Participants meet in the Community Hall for a review of rules and distribution of steaks.
11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.: - Cooking time! Participants must submit their steaks by 1:30 p.m. sharp for judging.
4:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. - Awards Ceremony and Steak Cook-Off winner announcement.

How to Register:
To register, complete the application form below and pay the $40.00 registration fee. Registration is not confirmed until payment is received.
Payment can be made via e-transfer to town@bassano.ca with "Steak Cook Off" and your name in the description, cash, credit card form, or cheque made payable to the Town of Bassano.
