1. Introduction

Survey Questionnaire on BIM (Building Information Modeling) .

Your participation in this survey is earnestly requested in order to obtain meaningful results. The information you provide will be kept in strict confidential and will be used only for academic purposes.

This questionnaire survey is part of the M.Sc. dissertation project: “BIM AS A TOOL TO IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF MEGA PROJECT’S MANAGEMENT”. The main objectives of this survey are: to identify the key benefits of BIM, and its main barriers in order to enable its progressive use within the industry.
BIM is a managed process of the collection and exploitation of information on a project. At its core is a computer-generated model that contains all the textual, graphical and tabular data about the design, construction and operation of the facility. Due to the increased importance of BIM, UK government has announced its intention to require fully collaborative 3D BIM (with all projects and asset information, documentation and data being electronic) on all public projects by 2016. Conversely, Egypt lacks any such strategy, but the use of BIM is reported to be increasing considerable, mainly because of its widely perceived benefits, although there are barriers too. It is therefore important to address the actual benefits of BIM, relevant problematic issues, in order to enable the progressive use of the technology.
