Community Survey (Closes 8/31/2019)

Background: The Municipality of Skagway purchased blocks 95 & 102 during FY14 for the approximate price of $70,833.33/ lot for a total of 24 lots in service area II of the Skagway Townsite. South of the property is 15th ave, to the West is main street and the school, to the North is 17th avenue and to the East is State St with the Public Safety Facility and Dahl Memorial Clinic in close vicinity. It is the intention of the Municipality that once water and sewer have been extended across the bridge in 2-3 years, blocks 95 & 102 will be developed with a primary focus on housing. Historically the Municipality has worked to make land sales available to the community members of Skagway as well as financing options. Currently the Skagway Development Corporation and the Planning and Zoning Committee are working together to develop a strategy for blocks 95 & 102 that will reduce community housing needs and help retain community members. It is this working groups' goal to: "Develop a uses, design and management plan for the development of blocks 95 and 102 in the Skagway Townsite that includes 60 - 100 new living dwellings by December of 2019 in order to improve the quality of life for Skagway residents, the retention of community members and to improve opportunities for the population of Skagway." This survey is to better understand the community's desire for this space, concerns around its development and comfort level of Municipal involvement. Thank you for taking your time to provide input.
