Transportation Engineer (Civil)
Pay scale: $5,849.00 - $10,956.00


(STEP 1) MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS:  Either I Graduation from a four-year curriculum in civil engineering accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology. (Registration as a senior in such a curriculum will admit an applicant to the competition, but she/he must produce evidence of graduation before she/he will be considered eligible for appointment.) (Possession of a valid certificate as an Engineer-in- Training issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, or issued by another jurisdiction and accepted by the California Board in lieu of the first division of the examination as an engineer may be substituted for the required education.) Or II Possession of equivalent qualifications may be demonstrated by graduation from an engineering curriculum which includes the basic engineering courses normally covered in a standard four-year engineering curriculum, and by qualifying in a written examination covering basic engineering. (Registration as a senior in such a curriculum will admit an applicant to the qualifying examination, but she/he must produce evidence of graduation before she/he will be considered eligible for appointment.) Or III A master's or doctorate degree in a civil engineering curriculum from a college or university that has a baccalaureate degree program in a civil engineering curriculum which is accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering Technology (ABET). (Registration as a candidate in such a curriculum will admit an applicant to the competition but she/he must produce evidence of graduation before she/he will be considered eligible for appointment.)

Associate Transportation Planner
Pay scale: $6,231.00 - $7,804.00


(STEP 1) MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS: Either I One year of experience in the California state service performing transportation planning duties in a class comparable in level of responsibility to Transportation Planner, Range C Or II Experience: Three years of experience in either one or a combination of the following areas. (At least one year must have been comparable to work performed by a Transportation Planner, Range C, in the California state service.) 1.Federal, State, regional, or local transportation planning activities. or 2.Transit planning, transportation studies, transportation system planning studies, or legislative transportation studies. (A Doctorate Degree in Transportation Planning may be substituted for the required experience; a Master's Degree in Transportation Planning may be substituted for two years of the general experience; a master's degree in a general planning curriculum or a closely related field as identified above may be substituted for one year of the general experience.) AND Education: Equivalent to graduation from college. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one year of experience equal to one year of education.)

Pay scale: $4,173.00 - $5,013.00


(STEP 1) MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS:  Either I One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Caltrans Highway Maintenance Worker or Caltrans Landscape Maintenance Worker Or II Either: l. Two years of experience in the California Department of Transportation performing the duties of a Service Assistant (Maintenance) including training in and operation of highway maintenance or construction equipment. or 2. One year of experience within the last five years (this time limitation is extended for a period equivalent to that spent in recognized military service during the last five years) in operating highway construction or maintenance equipment or in operating light trucks requiring a Class B commercial driver license. or 3. Possession of certification as a Heavy Equipment Operator Technician from a college or university accredited by the California Superintendent of Public Instruction, or a college or university approved by the Bureau on Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education, under the provisions of California Education Code Chapter 3, Part 59, Division 10.
