Chase Brexton Health Care is seeking a fiber artist for our eleventh annual National Honor Our LGBT Elders Day event!

Each year, we commission an artist to create an original banner between 18" x 18" and 24" x 24" in size to celebrate the diverse and marvelous lives of our LGBTQ Elders. Past artists have used sewing, quilting, applique, hand-dyeing, needle felting, machine and hand embroidery, soft sculpture, painting, and more to capture the broad tapestry of the LGBTQ+ community.

You may see some examples of past banners and additional information about the event here.

The selected artist will receive a $500 honorarium, a $100 stipend for materials, and 2 tickets to our Local National Honor Our LGBT Elders Day storytelling event, observed this year on May 14, 2026.

Preference is given to artists who are 50 years of age or older and/or who are members of the LGBTQ+ community, but identity disclosure is not required to apply.

This open call for proposals will remain open until February 13, 2026 at 5:00 PM.

If you have a question that is not covered here, please feel to reach out to Liz Fairfax at efairfax@chasebrexton.org
