About the ORPA Design Award

The Design and Construction Award - Small Project recognizes superior architectural and/or landscape design and design processes for new or renovated parks or facilities (buildings, parks, park components, trails, etc.) whose construction was completed in the last five years with an overall budget of less than $TBD. Nominated design projects should demonstrate inclusiveness and be responsive to community needs and show a high level of overall design quality and innovation. Award criteria includes the design’s integration of site characteristics and challenges; consideration for maintenance and energy efficiency; budget; community involvement; innovative funding or other partnerships in the design process; uniqueness of the design, efficient use of resources, and overall aesthetic appeal.

Nominations are due Friday, August 2, 2019, by 5:00 PM.

To make a nomination for the Design and Construction Award - Small Project, please answer the following questions and provide any required information as instructed. Contact the Awards Committee at director@orpa.org with any questions about the nomination process.

ORPA Awards will be presented at the 2019 ORPA Conference Awards Luncheon in Portland, Oregon on October 16th. Winners are strongly encouraged to be present to receive their award. If your nominee is selected to receive the award, you will be expected to provide a two- to three-minute video that highlights the winner's contributions. If production of a video is not possible, a 2-3 minute slide presentation with accompanying script may suffice. Videos are not required as part of the nomination process. The video or slide presentation for the winning recipient will be due on Monday, September 30, 2019.
