Distinguished Visiting Scholars Mentoring Circle: Brief Application Survey and Statement of Interest
Hello! Thank you for your interest in the 2020-21 UB Center for Diversity Innovation Distinguished Visiting Scholars program! A critical part of this annual program is to provide opportunities for deep engagement between UB students and the Distinguished Visiting Scholars--and among the members of each mentoring circle. There will be 10 students per Scholar circle--one circle will have 10 undergraduate students; the other, 10 graduate students. So you will have a great opportunity to meet other UB students you may not know, as well as get to know our awesome Scholars! The circles will meet--virtually and in-person--on occasion all year. (The time commitment will not be much at all, but you will have multiple opportunities to connect to the Scholar mentor and peers each semester.)
The deadline for your survey and uploaded short statement (described on next page): Thursday, October 15th.
This form enables you to identify one (or more) members of the Center's Distinguished Visiting Scholars cohort whose mentoring circle you would like to join. There are limited number of slots in each circle, but by expressing interest, you can also choose to be informed of other ways to engage with the Scholars in addition to the mentoring circles. There will be many ways, over the course of the year, to meet these nine great faculty.
Because you will be asked to describe as best as you can why you would like to work with each Scholar you choose in this survey, please review Scholars bios/areas of expertise here (https://www.buffalo.edu/diversity-innovation/distinguished-visiting-scholars/cohort.html) before completing this form.
We are so fortunate to have these 9 individuals here at UB. Enriching your (and all of UB students') experiences is the reason this program exists. Thank you in advance for welcoming and engaging in the events and activities that will be held for the entire UB community in the coming year. If you have questions or comments, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. (You will see on the next page how to upload your brief statement--PDF document preferred--about yourself so Scholars can learn about you and your interests.)
You will be notified by email re: mentoring circle selections so please monitor your UB email. Best wishes, Maura Belliveau, Ph.D. (Director, Center/Distinguished Visiting Scholars Program)
