What is Resilience in the workplace?
Resilience is the ability to ‘bounce back’ when encountering the challenges that are an inevitable part of life. The workplace presents a different range of stressors to employees. Resilience is the ability for a person to continue to move forwards in the face of distraction and particularly when things get tough
Why is Resilience important?
It is said that those with greater resilience are better able to manage stress, which is a risk factor for conditions such as anxiety and depression. ... “Resilient people have strong resources and skills to manage stress and conflict as well as a good support network to help them deal with the pressures of work
Benefits to having Resilience?
Coping with stress in a positive way is known as resilience, and it has many health benefits. It's associated with longevity, lower rates of depression, and greater satisfaction with life. It gives you a sense of control and helps you to remain positive at work
Effects of having a lack of Resilience
A lack of resilience means that you may not handle stress well in difficult situations. Chronic stress is associated with harmful health consequences such as high blood pressure, a weakened immune system, anxiety, depression, insomnia, heartburn, indigestion, and heart disease.
Building Resilience
The good news is that resilience skills can be learned. Building resilience — the ability to adapt well to adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or even significant sources of stress — can help employees manage stress and feelings of anxiety and uncertainty
