Welcome to the research survey for TDWI’s Q3 Best Practices Report, “Achieving Scalable, Agile, and Comprehensive Data Management and Data Governance.” To be published in September 2023, this in-depth report will discuss technology trends, real-world experiences, and the latest practices. Our goal is to examine challenges and provide forward-looking strategies for maximizing the value of data, especially in the context of growth in analytics and artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) initiatives.
Your participation in this survey is central to this research and enabling TDWI to contribute insights to our community. We know your time is valuable. Thank you for your participation and we very much look forward to your survey responses.
The data explosion is only accelerating, often across distributed landscapes with data on premises and on cloud data platforms. Organizations face challenges as well as tremendous potential—potential that can go untapped without good data management and data governance. Most organizations have a democratized spectrum of users. They need diverse types of data, different levels of data timeliness, and have differing data governance requirements.
Analytics and AI/ML are of course critical today. Initiatives depend on scalable, agile, and comprehensive data management and data governance. Organizations are advancing with easier, automated capabilities such as autoML; they are investigating large language models (LLMs) and generative AI. Organizations need to modernize data management and data governance to keep pace.
PURPOSE -- This survey asks for your expertise and opinions. TDWI will analyze the results and discuss them together with other research in the TDWI Best Practices Report.
INCENTIVE -- In appreciation of your completion of this survey, TDWI will send you a special link for downloading the final report when we published it in late September. Be sure to enter your email address at the end of the survey to be entered to win a prize as a thank you for completing it.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THE SURVEY? – We invite a range of individuals to participate. This includes chief data officers, chief analytics officers, data architects, data scientists, business analysts, and data analysts; CIOs, CTOs, and IT managers of BI, analytics, and data warehouses, data integration, data lakes, data engineering, and data applications development; and business professionals who use data applications and lead BI and analytics and AI/ML projects. Consultants should answer with their most recent client project in mind.
DIRECTIONS – Please finish each page of the survey by pressing “Next” and then “Done” at the end of the survey to ensure that the system record your answers properly. There are 27 content questions, five demographics questions, and two closing questions. By enabling cookies for your browser, you can leave the survey and return to finish it later. TDWI will keep the survey live until July 5, 2023.
