Tourism Strategy

The District Council of Streaky Bay is seeking community, visitor and stakeholder consultation to develop a Tourism Strategic Plan as identified in the District Council of Streaky Bay Strategic Management Plan 2016-2026.

The Council has engaged Jayne Holland, Consultant, createwithu.com to undertake the community engagement and deliver the plan in consultation with Council, community and stakeholders.

The aim of the strategy is to grow visitation and the visitor economy in the Streaky Bay district (and other regions that may benefit) by developing quality visitor experiences, promoting the destination and; continually growing and improving tourism development, product and industry in a collaborative way. 

The focus of the Strategic Plan is to implement a plan with sustainable and economically achievable long term actions which will enable the tourism industry to be competitive in developing, growing and delivering a high standard of tourism product, events and experiences that are compelling, authentic, appealing and refreshing. 

The Council is committed to developing a tourism framework that has sound strategic alignment to the South Australian State Strategic Plan, South Australian Tourism Plan and Regional Tourism Strategy and other state, regional and local plans.

o    Consultation closes at 5pm on Friday 25 January 2019.

o    Community and stakeholder review and feedback on the draft strategy will be open from 9am, 15 February to 5pm 29 March 2019.

o    The strategy aims to be considered for adoption by the Council at the ordinary meeting of Council, April 2018.
