Process:

  • The call for proposals will be open to all BWH departments, researchers, clinicians and staff
  • Each individual or department can put forward up to 3 ideas for demos
  • Click here to view the coverage from 2019 event to provide some background on what others have done.
  • The call for demos is open to all topics focused on research and/or clinical innovation, but we strongly encourage those who have topics on COVID-19 and health equity research to submit
  • We are interested in including diverse speakers (minorities, LGBTQ+, those with disabilities) with a variety of roles in the hospital (nurses, researchers, physicians, staff, patients, etc.)
  • The demos will happen virtually from 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM. Each demo will need to propose a plan for their virtual demo and will meet with the BRI team to execute their vision
  • BRI leadership will evaluate and prioritize applications based on criteria described in this call
  • Successful applicant(s) will be responsible for the content of their demo. The BRI will be responsible for providing logistical support during the planning process and on the day of Discover Brigham on November 12, 2020 as well as for publicizing the sessions and demos

Discover Brigham
Eligibility:

  • Proposals may be submitted by departments/researchers/clinicians/staff. Faculty member applicants must hold rank of Instructor or above
  • Each individual/department can submit up to 3 ideas for a demo. Final demo titles will be determined by the BRI

Application Criteria:

  • Proposals are submitted for a demo
  • All research/clinical innovation themes are welcome

Application Process:

Proposals are due September 14, 2020, 11:00 PM should be submitted electronically and must include the following:

  • Applicant’s Name, Degree, Department and Division, BWH and HMS professional appointments, contact information. This is the person who will be named as Demo Director
  • Specify if interested in planning a demo. 
  • Specify research/clinical topic/theme/domain of interest
  • Indicate preferred audience – clinicians/researchers/lay public/patients/industry. Check all that apply
  • Each demo will need to propose a plan for their virtual demo and will meet with the BRI team to execute their vision.
  • Provide a short description (no more than 5-7 lines) of the proposed topic and its significance

REVIEW CRITERIA:
The BRI Executive Committee in conjunction with the BRI Research Oversight Committee (represents all BWH departments) will evaluate and prioritize proposals based on the following:

  • Is the topic proposed relevant/significant to those working at BWH or beyond?
  • Is the proposal clear and well-defined?
  • Does the session topic has the potential to attract a significant audience?
