Pediatrics Open Science is seeking applicants for a Statistical Editor to serve on its inaugural Executive Editorial Board.
One of the first open access journals focused on improving the health of children, Pediatrics Open Science will play a pivotal role in the sharing of research and learnings from investigators worldwide. We are seeking a diverse group of experienced, creative individuals committed to improving child health to help shape the mission and vision of the journal as it launches. 
The Statistical Editor is a key member of the Executive Editorial Board, responsible for reviewing select manuscripts regarding the appropriateness and rigor of the statistical analyses and overall methodological approach, helping set and maintain high standards of publication. Qualifications and responsibilities are described below.

Editor in Chief
  • Advanced training (ideally a PhD) in statistics or a related field
  • Current academic appointment
  • Editorial experience preferred
  • No conflict of interest with another medical publication.
  • Members of the Executive Editorial Board may not serve as an editor at any level or on the Editorial Board  for another peer-reviewed medical publication.

  • Review selected manuscripts with particular attention to the methods, analyses and results sections.
  • Attend the Pediatrics Open Science Editorial Board meeting; prepare status reports on statistical issues that arise during the year for the Editor in Chief and Deputy Editor.
  • Attend virtual Pediatrics Open Science Executive Editorial Board meetings approximately every other week.
Appointments are made on the basis of knowledge, expertise, and interest. The AAP treats all applicant materials as confidential. Applications, CVs, and other documents will be kept secure and will not be shared with anyone except designated AAP staff and the editorial leadership.
