Case for Change

Thank you for considering the Case for Change: Consumer Engagement via Online & Social Media (Cross-Sector Project).

Digitalisation and the continuing increase in consumer demand for online and social media interactions mean that online and social media engagement is (and will continue to be) an essential area for businesses to be involved in. Workforce skills training is an important component of this trend to support businesses and the wider economy to engage effectively.

The Case for Change put forward by SkillsIQ aims to support the VET sector to ensure the current and future workforce in Australia continues to be job-ready in a tech-savvy and tech-demanding environment.

The recommendations for modernising Training Package products involve the review of current Units of Competency, as well as the development of new common Units of Competency for Training Packages.

Those IRCs identified in this phase of the project as overseeing Units of Competency affected by the recommendations are:

·        Business Services

·        Education

·        Information and Communications Technology

·        Manufacturing and Engineering

·        Public Sector

·        Tourism, Travel and Hospitality

·        Wholesale & Retail

Since common Units of Competency developed through this project will be available for all Training Packages to import, other IRCs may be affected post-implementation of the Cross-Sector Units therefore please note that the list is not exhaustive.

SkillsIQ requests the approval and support of the Case for Change: Consumer Engagement via Online & Social Media, from IRCs. Please complete the questions below to confirm your response.

Important note:
A number of issues regarding the implementation of Cross-Sector Units of Competency across Training Packages are outlined in the Case for Change. The issues are not unique to this project, and include the need for clarification on ownership of all Cross-Sector project Units of Competency and quality assurance processes. The Department of Education and Training is currently reviewing these issues and will provide stakeholders with further information when  implementation details are finalised.

If you have a preference and/or recommendation for the Department on how the Cross-Sector project Units should be implemented, please provide your feedback in the space provided at the end of this form.
