To support the mission and goals of the Kansas Governor’s Council on Wellness by recognizing and promoting exemplary contributions to health and fitness in Kansas.

Eligible Nominees
People and groups that can be considered for recognition are volunteers, schools, communities, employers, media organizations, and policy makers who have made positive contributions to health and well-being.

Every year, we will honor one exceptional person and one remarkable organization in Kansas who have shown outstanding dedication to promoting health, fitness, and wellness. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, January 11th, 2023, at the Community Health Promotion Summit.

Examples of Who Can Be Nominated
Here are some examples to give you an idea of the kinds of individuals and groups that qualify for nomination. Keep in mind that these are just examples and not strict categories.

Individual Examples:
  • A fantastic volunteer who leads and supports healthy and active lifestyles in a local community or wider region.
  • A teacher who goes beyond regular duties to inspire and guide students, families, and colleagues in adopting healthy habits and programs.
  • A journalist who excellently covers topics related to physical activity and wellness.
  • An employee who surpasses their job role to encourage health and fitness in their workplace or through their business.
  • Someone who takes a leadership role in promoting policies that improve health in Kansas.
  • An urban planner who focuses on creating safe and accessible areas for physical activity in different neighborhoods.

Organizational Examples:
  •  A school or business that introduces policies, activities, or structures to support healthy eating, physical activity, and tobacco-free living.
  • A local community that implements policies, programs, and facilities for physical activity, healthy foods, and smoke-free spaces.
  • A local store that responds to the community's need for better access to nutritious foods.
