This online application for the Computer Science Grants for Teachers Program is designed to be completed in one sitting. Answers are not autosaved, so please see the complete request for proposal (RFP) for grant instructions, reviewer rubrics, and reporting requirements. 

Before you start, please fill out the signed assurances page, requiring signatures from the LEA Board President, the district superintendent or BOCES president, and the program contact.

This grant program exists to promote the postsecondary education of eligible teachers who teach or wish to teach computer science in secondary education.

Local education agencies (LEAs) must complete and submit the application for this funding opportunity by Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

* 6. Priority will be given to rural or small rural LEAs, as well as LEAs with large percentages of minority and low-income student populations. Check box(es) that apply to the LEA.

* 8. Provide a brief description of the grant proposal.  The summary must be no more than 500 words and convey the following criteria in a clear and concise manner:
  • The need for CSEd funding;
  • Types of professional development planned;
  • Gaps or weaknesses in the computer science curriculum.
  • Major goals for professional development; and
  • How grant funds will benefit teachers and students.
  • Indicate the first-time applying for the CSEd grant; or
  • How additional CSEd grants in 2018-19 will augment the previous impact of 2017-18 CSEd grant awards.

* 9. List the amount of funding requested. CDE anticipates awarding up to 30-35 grants, ranging between $5,000 - $30,000. LEAs should consider the number of teachers participating in the professional development listed.
