Overview

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Bringing Recovery Supports to Scale Technical Assistance Center Strategy (BRSS TACS) is pleased to announce Building and Sustaining a Thriving Collegiate Recovery Program: A Learning Community, an opportunity to explore how to start, grow and maintain a successful collegiate recovery program.  This technical assistance opportunity is open to people working on starting a collegiate recovery program (CRP) as well as those who have recently started a collegiate recovery program.  Over the course of 4 months, learning community (LC) participants will understand the basics of CRP development;  increase their skills and acquire practical tools that address common barriers to CRP development;  deepen their knowledge about program sustainability and funding streams;  and connect in meaningful ways with others who have similar goals and challenges.

The Building and Sustaining a Thriving Collegiate Recovery Program Learning Community will run from January 2020 through April 2020.  Participants will join virtual sessions with experienced CRP staff and enjoy opportunities to exchange ideas and learn from others with shared interests and challenges.  The BRSS TACS team will host virtual sessions every week on Monday afternoons from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. (ET).  Plenary sessions will occur once or twice a month, and LC members will participate in small workgroups facilitated by experienced CRP leaders.  Workgroups will meet on weeks that do not have scheduled plenaries. Participants will need to dedicate at least one hour outside of weekly sessions to work on action planning.

Please note that SAMHSA encourages learning community members to attend all plenary and workgroup sessions as much as possible to maintain consistent contact with all stakeholders. Therefore, it is recommended that two people from each organization or group participate in the learning community.

To help assess whether the LC is a good fit for your organization's needs, the BRSS TACS team is holding an informational webinar on Monday, November 18, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. (ET).  The webinar will discuss the objectives, plenary topics and logistic of participation as well as answer questions from the audience.  Sign up today!
