The City and County of Denver is working with communities to create complete transportation networks, implementing a new strategy for planning multimodal networks and rapidly building out high-comfort bike projects through this program.

Your feedback on the proposed improvements below will help us plan and design the projects that best meet the community’s needs.

The proposed design is intended to convert E Exposition Ave from N Downing St to N Gilpin St into a neighborhood bikeway. Significant changes to existing parking is not anticipated.

Neighborhood bikeways include design changes that help to maintain low traffic volumes and speeds. They also include added signage and enhanced pavement markings to communicate that bicyclists can share the travel lane. New traffic signals are proposed to be implemented along E Exposition Ave at S Broadway St and S Lincoln St. Preliminary analysis indicates traffic in the neighborhood could increase after these signals are installed. To reduce new cut-through traffic along the street, a traffic diverter is proposed at S Clarkson St and E Exposition Ave. The intent of this addition is to mitigate the increase in traffic related to the development near Broadway and Lincoln St, while still allowing through movement by people biking and walking. Using a mix of design elements is critical to achieving lower overall travel speeds and traffic volumes.

Additional street changes are recommended to slow vehicles down and to make crossing the street on foot or by bicycle easier, including traffic circles and curb extensions. Using a mix of design elements is critical to achieving lower overall travel speeds.

Together, these changes create a more comfortable corridor to walk and bicycle along, providing benefits to all roadway users.
