GCIR’s Biennial National Convening will take place March 11-13, 2020, at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia. GCIR’s staff and board members value the importance in supporting leadership development within philanthropy for emerging leaders new to the sector, and to those for which a leadership development budget may not be readily available. GCIR will grant two scholarships to cover registration fees for emerging leaders (five years or less and in a supporting level position) from foundations and philanthropic support organizations.

Scholarship recipients will still be responsible for covering the cost of their travel and accommodations. People with marginalized identities and those from immigrant backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
Scholarship Criteria:
  • Applicant is an emerging leader (five years or less) and a support level position in philanthropic sector.
  • Applicant is employed at a foundation or PSO and must demonstrate a financial need from their institution to attend the convening.
  • Applicant demonstrates how attending GCIR’s convening will contribute to their role and learning.
Scholarship recipients will agree to the following:

Active Participation
  • Scholarship recipients must attend the entire convening and fully engage in networking opportunities throughout the sessions and activities.
Social Media Support
  • Scholarship recipients must agree to share promotional convening information on professional platforms starting January 2020.
  • Share live updates of activities via social media and on the convening app throughout the event (at least three posts-one per day).
Blog Post
  • Submit one blog post by March 20, 2020 that will be potentially shared with GCIR’s network post-convening. Participants will be provided with prompts to answer prior to the convening.
Applications are due by January 10, 2020. Scholarship grantees will be notified by February 3, 2020.
