First Steps Kent is recruiting parents of children birth through 5 years of age to serve on the Ready by Five Early Childhood Millage’s Resident Proposal Review Board. The board shall include members from all areas of Kent County and include people of different ethnicities, races, religions, sexual identities, and/or genders.

About the Position
This is a two-year term beginning in 2020 and is renewable. Individuals serving on the board must be a current resident of Kent County and a parent of a young child (age five or younger).

Applicants will need to have a flexible schedule to meet during and after business hours.  This commitment will not exceed 80 hours per year.

Please Note: Access to reliable technology (phone, email, computer, and internet) for communication and attending virtual meetings is required for this position. FSK may be able to provide assistance in some situations. Please explain below if you wish to serve in this role but are unable to because you do not have access to technology (see question 12).  

Responsibilities of all RPRB Members include: 

1. Attend all required orientation and training sessions. The next training session is scheduled for mid to late September 2020.

2. Individually review and score funding proposals using pre-established criteria for investment. This will be done online and could take up to 24 hours to complete. The review period is tentatively scheduled for October 16, 2020 – November 5, 2020.

3. Attend all Resident Proposal Review Board meetings and work with the board to determine how funds should be allocated to each proposal. Meeting dates could be up to three full days (depending on the number of proposals). The tentative dates are scheduled for November 10-13, 2020.

4. Support monitoring of investments by attending periodic meetings. Dates are TBD.
 
Parent Position Stipend:  Parent Representatives will be
compensated by a stipend of $25/hr.
