Request for Expression of Interest to participate in training program

The Frankston Mornington Peninsula Primary Care Partnership (FMPPCP) has been funded to deliver an Elder Abuse Prevention Network as part of the Integrated Model of Care (IMOC) for Responding to Suspected Elder Abuse across Frankston Mornington Peninsula.

The Respecting Seniors Network Frankston & Mornington Peninsula has been created as the Elder Abuse Prevention Network, and is collaborating with Seniors Rights Victoria to deliver the Conversations Seeds training program in 2020. This program aims to encourage conversations about ageing, ageism and elder abuse in the community through key informants.

The Network is seeking to recruit and select a group of adults, preferably over 60 years of age, that are well networked and connected in the community that want to better promote respect of older adults and their rights. Seniors can play an integral part in primary prevention of elder abuse by having conversations within their groups and circles of family, friends and others. This is a peer based program and Ideally would suit those that have some confidence in speaking in a public context.

The program involves attending 2 x half day sessions on Wednesday 11th and Wednesday 18th March between 10am and 1.30pm at Mornington Community Information and Support Centre, 320 Main Street, Mornington.

Those interested in the program will need to attend both sessions, complete a self-learning assignment and have a commitment to holding 2 conversations from the Resource Guide within 6 months, after completing the training.

Elder abuse is hidden in our community. You could help people understand it and talk about it. This program will help you to find the words to start conversations and help others.
