Certificate Program in Clinical Research APPLICATION |

CPCR is a one-year certificate program composed of approximately 40-44 hours of didactic and interactive activities focused on research methodology and research regulatory standards. The program is specifically designed for individuals with an interest in developing their clinical research career with aspirations of obtaining research funding.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
At the end of this educational program, learners will be able to:
1) Describe principles of research methodology including study design, epidemiology, statistics in addition to grant writing best practices.
2) Apply principles of research methodology to their proposed research projects and to review of medical literature.
3) Describe and follow IRB, VA IRB and common rule regulations that apply to conduct of safe and ethical research.
4) Identify VA and non-VA resources that are available to conduct research.
5) Identify qualities of a high-quality research mentors and research collaborations.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must hold an BA, BS, MD, PhD, MBBS, DMD, DDS, PharmD, DNP, DC, DPhil, or equivalent post-graduate degree. Applicants must be affiliated with the VA, UCF, HCA Healthcare, or Nemours Children's Health.
Classes are held virtually every 1-2 weeks for 1-2 hours (excluding national holidays) via Zoom. Computer access and attendance with ‘video on’ is required because the class involves extensive interaction, homework review, quizzes, and hands-on computer work. Individuals who want to attend just a few classes are discouraged from applying as the educational activities for each class build on the previous class. Because the content is connected, it is difficult to understand and catch up by attending intermittently. Research career development comprises a significant portion of this program, thus preference will be given to applicants who:
· are part of a fellowship training program and for whom research training is a requirement
· interested in clinical research and need assistance with grant development and establishing a research career
· have already completed some pilot research and are interested in expanding to a larger grant o funded project
· have academic appointments that include teaching research methods to students / residents.
A certificate of completion is awarded only to participants who attend >80% of classes and assignments, and receive a passing grade on the final examination. Some learners may be able to receive CME credits.
To apply, please complete and submit this form no later than July 1, 2025. Selected applicants may be asked to complete a 15-minute virtual interview with the Program Directors. Applicants will be notified of their of their status by, July 19, 2025, and classes will start on approximately September 10, 2025.
