The City and County of Denver is working with communities to create complete transportation networks, implementing a new strategy for planning multimodal networks and rapidly building out high-comfort bike projects through this program.

Your feedback on the proposed improvements below will help us plan and design the projects that best meet the community’s needs.

The proposed design is intended to make permanent the changes made to E Bayaud Ave that have been acheived through the existing street closure to through traffic, converting the corridor into a neighborhood bikeway. Significant changes to existing parking is not anticipated. Based on the existing street closure, traffic volumes and speeds have been reduced, and there has been a dramatic increase in bicycle and pedestrian travel along the corridor.

The concept presented in this plan is intended to maintain slow travel speeds for vehicles, as well as maintain the low traffic volumes that are being seen along the street today. To maintain existing speeds and volumes with the street closure, traffic diverters are recommended at S Sherman St and S Ogden St. The intent of these additions is to reduce cut-through traffic along the corridor, while allowing bicyclists and pedestrians to travel through the intersections. Additional street changes are recommended to slow vehicles down and to make crossing the street on foot or by bicycle easier, including traffic circles and curb extensions. Using a mix of design elements is critical to achieving lower overall travel speeds.

Together, these changes create a more comfortable corridor to walk and bicycle along, providing benefits to all roadway users, and make permanent the lower traffic volumes and speeds that have been seen through the popular street closure along E Bayaud Ave.

* 1. How do you typically travel on this street? (Check all that apply)

Question Title

* 2. What activities do you typically use this street for? (Check all that apply)

Question Title

* 3. What are your top two concerns related to safety and mobility along this corridor today? (Check all that apply)

Question Title

* 4. Changes to the street are recommended to reduce the amount of cut-through traffic along the corridor, while still providing access to local residents, businesses and visitors. Minimizing cut-through traffic and prioritizing local access along the street will make walking and biking along the street safer and more comfortable.
