What do you think of the proposed, "Sunday Brunch Bill"?

This is a quick survey by the Havelock Chamber of Commerce to its Members to elicit their feedback as it pertains to the proposed ordinance that will be voted on at the next Havelock Board of Commissioners Meeting on April 23, 2018.

Some Background:  The NC General Assembly Session Law 2017-87 on June 30, 2017, known as the "Sunday Brunch Bill." This bill authorizes cities and counties to adopt ordinances allowing the sale of alcoholic beverages beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday's. In the absence of an ordinance, State law prohibits the sale/consumption of alcoholic beverages before 12 noon on Sunday's.

As of November 2017, a total of 128 cities/towns have adopted an ordinance allowing the sale of alcohol beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday's. Area Havelock businesses have requested that the Board consider the adoption of the proposed ordinance. New Bern and Morehead City passed their ordinance in July 2017. To follow suit, Newport passed their ordinance in September 2017.

The "Sunday Brunch Bill" was tabled by the City of Havelock Board of Commissioners for further discussion/consideration at the April 23, 2018 Board meeting.
