Brea (like the sea) Cross-Caldwell (she/her) holds her CI/CT from RID, B.S. in Interpretation from Western Oregon University, Coach Certification from Coach Training Alliance, and is a Mental Health Coach. She’s the founder of Burnout Proof Academy and has supported thousands of interpreters in preventing burnout and re-igniting the passion in their lives and work through developing habits of self-care. Her home is Portland, Oregon, where she loves to write, read, and play near water with her husband and kids. You can find her online at brighterfocus.com.

Question Title

* 10. Building a Culture of Diversity: Beyond Minoritized
Presented By: Antonio Goodwin
Antonio Goodwin has based his education on dealing with this notion of difference and diversity. His studies at Vanderbilt Law School involved proposing a statutory approach to reshaping the legal system beyond ontological criminality of African Americans. His studies at Vanderbilt Divinity School focused on religion and the public sphere, particularly the African American political ethos and advocacy, masculinities, social injustice related to prison systems, and the politics of difference. As a professional sign language interpreter for over 19 years, Antonio has been in a variety of group settings: having interpreted for three of the National Black Deaf Advocacy national conferences; having served as president of the National Alliance of Black Interpreters, Inc. (NAOBI, Inc.) for two terms; having served on the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. (RID) Diversity Council for two terms, and having penned the original first draft of RID's first comprehensive (and later published) Diversity Statement, this topic is an integral part of Antonio’s life.
