City of Berwyn - ADA Transition Plan - Public Engagement Survey

The City of Berwyn is in the process of creating an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan related to sidewalk and curb ramp facilities along roadways and streets throughout the city. Berwyn faces the same challenges as communities throughout the country, providing a pedestrian network that meets the needs of all users. For the past 35 years Berwyn has been incorporating ADA improvements into municipal projects. This Plan will not only document those efforts but develop a long-term plan for the remaining improvements needed. The plan is mandated by Title II of the ADA and will provide guidance on future construction needs, focused on public right-of-way, to make the city accessible to all residents.

The Public Engagement Survey is intended to get public input on the pedestrian routes and travel habits of our residents and visitors. Please answer based on your experiences and challenges you face when traveling around the city. The data generated by this survey will be used to identify priority routes and gain a better understanding of what barriers to access impact users’ ability to walk/roll around the city.

La ciudad de Berwyn está en el proceso de crear un Plan de Transición de la Ley de Estadounidenses con Discapacidades (ADA, por sus siglas en inglés) relacionado con las instalaciones de aceras y rampas en las aceras a lo largo de las carreteras y calles de toda la ciudad. Berwyn enfrenta los mismos desafíos que las comunidades de todo el país, proporcionando un sistema peatonal que satisface las necesidades de todos los usuarios. Durante los últimos 35 años, Berwyn ha estado incorporando el mejoramiento de ADA en proyectos municipales. Este Plan no solo documentará esos esfuerzos, sino que desarrollará un plan a largo plazo para mejoramientos que se necesitan. El plan es obligatorio por el Título II de la ADA y proporcionará un guía sobre las necesidades futuras de construcción, centrándose en el derecho de paso público, para que la ciudad sea accesible para todos los residentes.
