This survey is being conducted by the Landscape Architecture Foundation’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force. Absent an annual discipline-wide survey, the Task Force is interested in establishing baseline information regarding representation in the profession and policies and practices being undertaken by firms to improve equity in the discipline with a particular focus on racial equity. Your participation in this survey is voluntary and you may choose to stop at any time. Your answers will be anonymous and you will only be able to complete the survey once. It will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete the survey.

If you are primarily employed in academia, please do not take the survey at this time. LAF will be reaching out to academics at a later date with a different set of questions.

In discussing diversity, equity, and inclusion, LAF is defining the terms as follows. Diversity is the psychological, physical, and social differences that occur among all individuals, including race, gender, and socioeconomic status. Equity is the guarantee of fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all individuals that acknowledges historical barriers to participation faced by some groups. Inclusion is creating environments in which all individuals feel welcomed, respected, and able to fully participate. You will have the opportunity to explain what these terms mean to you within the survey.

Thank you to LAF's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force, LAF's Board of Directors and Board Emeritus, and the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) for their support in the development of this survey. LAF plans to share findings at the 2019 ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture in San Diego and will release a summary following the session. LAF will also use these findings to inform future programs and initiatives and share them with landscape architecture capacity organizations, such as ASLA and others.
