The Town of Saint Andrews is undertaking a comprehensive and inclusive engagement process to identify the best approach and type of reuse of the Charlotte County Courthouse. Whether you are interested in heritage buildings or they are not a primary concern to you, your input is important. 
 
Owned by the Town of Saint Andrews, the intact building including the adjacent Gaol (jail) is designated as a National Historic Site and a Provincial Heritage Place. The provincial designation comes with a permitting process to change while maintaining heritage character. 

The general types of reuse could be considered include:

CIVIC USE which could include Council Chambers, Municipal Office, etc. Building improvements, maintenance, and operational costs would be borne by the Town of Saint Andrews.

CULTURAL USE which could include activities such as museums, arts and/or culture centre, etc. In this case, it could be operated by the Municipality or a new/existing not-for-profit organization, possibly with some level of Municipal funding. 

MIXED CIVIC AND CULTURAL USE which could include a combination of support from not-for-profit organizations and the Municipality. 

PRIVATE SECTOR USE which could see a re-use opportunity through the private sector with revenue opportunities for the Town through the lease or sale of the property.
