The Association of the Year™ will be presented to an exemplary association that has achieved overall excellence. Associations nominating for an award may also enter other awards.

The judges may choose to present a second award to The Small Association of the Year™ based on criteria such as income, equity, staffing (if any), or the scope of purpose. They will choose an association they find outstanding, even though it is notably smaller than the Association of the Year™ recipient.

As part of membership with Associations Forum, all members can enter the nomination for free. Nomination entry fee is $500 for all non-members, you will be invoiced upon receipt of your application, payment of this invoice will confirm your submission.

Submissions must be received by 5pm (AEST), Friday 16 August 2024. Previous winners cannot submit nominations for the same category within 5 years of winning their award.

Finalists will be notified in advance.

All finalist Associations are required to have a representative attendance at the Association Awards™ Dinner, on 7th November 2024 at Marvel Stadium Melbourne. For more information and to register click here.

Please submit a submission statement (800 words or less) explaining why you consider your association to be the Association of the Year. You may address all or any of the relevant areas below:

1.                 Mission and Plan: State the association’s Mission, process for and frequency of updating the Plan and degree of success in meeting goals

2.                 Governance: Describe and comment on the appropriateness and effectiveness of the association's governance structure

3.                 Membership: State the membership numbers as a percentage of potential members and comment on whether membership is growing or declining

4.                 Member Services: Describe key education, events, projects, research, communications or other member services, including commentary on most popular and innovative services

5.                 Policy and Advocacy: Development of position statements for your sector or membership and advocacy undertaken to seek implementation of its policy agenda

6.                 Public Awareness: State if your association undertakes awareness campaigns so that it influences the public and hence is known in areas beyond its immediate membership and stakeholders

7.                 Finances: Comment on the association’s financial health and sustainability, including sending audited balance sheet and profit and loss statement

8.                 Leadership: Who or which part/s of the association contributes to leadership of the association (e.g Board, CEO, members)

9.                 Culture: Commentary on the internal culture and vibrancy of the association may be included

10.               Any other information that you think is relevant in demonstrating excellence
