Call for SGIM Associate Council Nominations

SGIM’s future depends on dedicated, effective leaders who reflect the full scope of our members’ interests, activities, and backgrounds. SGIM’s leadership positions offer great opportunities to shape the future of our discipline.  Help us identify outstanding leaders for SGIM!  

SGIM is currently seeking nominations for an associate member of Council. The position gives Associates - medical students, residents and fellows, a voice on Council, and helps to develop strategies to make SGIM more attractive to Associate members while helping develop future leaders.  

Criteria
Candidates should have a history of participation in organizations that advance a generalist or primary care agenda. Self-nominations are encouraged. Others may nominate associate members provided the candidate is notified and agrees prior to submitting their names for consideration. Nominees must be SGIM associate members in good standing at the time of nomination. Candidates are encouraged to articulate their priorities, especially how they will represent Associates as an ex-officio member of Council. The position requires:

  • a two-year commitment;
  • 90 minute monthly Council conference calls,
  • two three day Council retreats a year (June & December) and
  • ad hoc committee assignments.
  • The selected candidate will begin their term in May 2023 and serve through May 2025.

Submission Requirements
Candidates should submit a one-page letter of interest that includes the following information:  

  • History in organizations that advance a generalist or primary care agenda
  • Your Leadership experience
  • General statement of interest including your priorities, especially how you will represent Associates as the ex-officio member of Council and indicate the statement of endorsement from one or more of the following: your Chair, Division Chief, Program Director, Fellowship Director, Dean of Students, or faculty member.
  • Upload a current copy of your CV
