Interested in learning about aquatic invasive species? Come to this training session where we will learn how to identify common aquatic invasive species, and how to properly survey for them! We will be identifying animals including the zebra mussel and Chinese mystery snail, as well as numerous plants including water chestnut, Eurasian watermilfoil, and the new invader - Hydrilla. Volunteers will learn how to survey for these species using the shoreline rake-toss method. Rakes are available to borrow!

The trainings will take place at Black Rock Park in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Located off of Quaker Bridge Rd. (easily confused with Quaker Bridge Rd. East, or Quaker Ridge Rd.), Black Rock Park is a small park located on the Croton River, home of the new hydrilla infestation.

Directions to Black Rock Park:

From Route 9:
-Take the US 9A exit toward NY 129
-Turn left onto Municipal Pl.
-Slight right onto Grand St.
-Slight right onto Quaker Bridge Rd.
-Destination will be on the left

From Taconic Parkway:
-Take the NY 9A N/NY-100 exit
-Take exit toward Shady Lane Farm Rd.
-Turn right onto Old Albany Post Rd
-Slight right onto Quaker Bridge Rd
-Turn left to stay on Quaker Bridge Rd (go over small metal bridge)
-Destination will be on the right
