‘Accessibility is the tool; inclusion is the objective.’

CityDNA and Destinations International are collaborating on a global accessibility report to investigate the evolving accessibility landscape in destinations across Europe and North America and how to create a more welcoming environment for people with disabilities.
Goal and intended outcomes:
  • Comprehend the challenges and opportunities in association with creating inclusive environments that benefit everyone.
  • Understand the current status of destination accessibility efforts, identify gaps and spotlight innovative practices that bridge these gaps, fostering a welcoming environment for all.
  • Inspire and motivate destination organisations to improve accessibility for residents and visitors of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
Who should take this survey:
This survey is designed to assess the accessibility needs of destination organisations (DMOS/DOs) and Convention Bureaux based in North America and Europe.
Note: Findings from North American and European destinations will be analysed and given priority however we welcome responses from Destination Organisations and Convention Bureaux outside of North America and Europe. Findings from destinations outside of our target audience may be analysed at a later time.

We prefer people who are familiar with accessibility-related legislation or issues affecting accessibility in your destination to take this survey. Possible positions who have knowledge of this information include but are not limited to: Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director, Community Engagement, Destination Development, Inclusion Specialist.

We want to hear from as many destination organisations as possible by May 1, 2024. Please limit responses to one survey per destination organisation.

Additional information:
The findings from this survey will be shared at the Destinations International Annual Convention on July 16-18, 2024 in Tampa (FL) and the CityDNA Conference on October 16-19, 2024 in Bruges (Belgium).
