Dear Partners and Stakeholders,

The Government of the United Kingdom (UK), through the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) is supporting the ASEAN Business Advisory Council’s work on Regional Digital Trade Connectivity (RDTC). A research study has been commissioned to explore the feasibility and impact of possible ASEAN Regional Digital Trade Connectivity via the creation of a private sector-led National Digital Trade Platform (DTP) in each of the ASEAN Member States (AMS), as well as a system to connect them at the regional level.

What is a DTP? A one-stop information-exchange platform that enables exporters and importers to interact with all business partners and stakeholders on international trade-related transactions, including logistics, trade finance, and other trade facilitation activities (except customs-related processes under the National Single Window systems). Such a platform is expected to raise productivity, transparency, boost competitiveness, and uncover new opportunities.

What is a DTP not about? The prospective DTP is neither a marketplace (such as Amazon, eBay, Alibaba, etc) nor a trading platform (such as Fidelity, Ameritrade, etc.).

Why this survey and what does it entail? At this feasibility stage of the study, we have developed a survey aiming to understand the viewpoints of key stakeholders regarding the viability, feasibility, foreseeable impacts and challenges to the development and implementation of such a DTP. The survey should not take more than 10 minutes of your time and we would encourage you to provide candid answers.*

Thank you very much in advance for your participation. If you would like to obtain more information and have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Project Team at pbaker@tradeeconomics.com

* All data will be treated confidentially and presented only in aggregate form. The information generated as part of this activity will be utilised strictly for the purpose of gaining a better understanding of the needs for technical and regulatory assistance in areas of direct relevance to strengthening the trade digitalisation of your country and ASEAN as a whole.
