Governor Glenn Youngkin presented a seven-step action plan in October 2022 titled Our Commitment to Virginia’s Children. Under Action Seven, the State Superintendent of Public Instruction has been directed to require all school divisions in the Commonwealth of Virginia to reengage the public in consultation and to update their individual American Rescue Plan (ARP) ESSER spending plans by December 31, 2022.

As such, Hampton City Schools (HCS) is seeking community feedback regarding the school division’s ARP ESSER Spending Plan. Click this link to see the current ARP ESSER Spending Plan for HCS. Since the division’s initial plan was released in July of 2021, the division has continued to review and revise the plan as needed and submit these revisions to the Virginia Department of Education for approval. Utilizing this survey, please share your thoughts on additional ways that you believe ARP ESSER funds can be used to address learning loss and other impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. This feedback will be used by division leadership in planning meetings to update the division’s ARP ESSER Spending Plan as needed. This survey will close at midnight on Monday, December 5, 2022.

Please note that this survey is new and in addition to the Instruction & Health Mitigation Plan Feedback Survey that was distributed to all HCS staff and families via a ParentSquare notification on November 15, 2022. The Instruction & Health Mitigation Plan Feedback Survey falls under a federal requirement to obtain feedback on how school divisions have returned to in-person learning. This particular survey will remain open until midnight on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.
