1. Participant Application

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is committed to the achievement and success of all women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). An important segment of SWE’s membership consists of women in academia. The goal of this workshop is to provide faculty women with key skills and knowledge that will support career advancement. Participants will learn sound practices to advance in academia, and will develop opportunities and mechanisms for networking across institutions.

Please complete the following participant application form by September 16. The Academic Leadership for Women in Engineering workshop will be held October 14 and 15, 2011 in Chicago, in conjunction with the SWE Annual Conference.

Since space is limited we can only accommodate up to three women from a given university.

Criteria for attendees:
-Is tenure track or tenured
-May have some experience in or familiarity with personnel and budget matters
-Interested in attaining a leadership position recognizes importance of strategic risk-taking for career advancement
-Realistically and continually assesses her leadership opportunities
-Can expect advancement opportunities, either formal or informal, within her institution.

All attendees' travel and hotel expenses will be covered through a generous grant from the National Science Foundation and SWE's Corporate Partnership Council.
