AAT Asbestos Survey

1.Describe your sample preparation in detail:(Required.)
Thank you in advance for participating in this Survey. It should take less than 10 minutes to complete. Your responses are very important in helping AIHA Registry Programs evaluate the AAT Asbestos program and samples.

This survey is 100% anonymous and will not be used, in anyway, to evaluate participants.

The survey was created in an effort to understand how our participants treat AATAsbestos samples. The survey covers sample preparation, microscope filter, test slide type and usage, and sample characteristics.
Tell us about your asbestos prep and analysis.
2.What color is the filter in your microscope?(Required.)
3.Tell us about your test slide.(Required.)
Test Slide
Sets of Lines
Which test slide do you use and how many sets of lines are visible for the test slide?
4.Based AAT data, there is an indication that some registrants may be correcting or adjusting their data before reporting.
The answer to these questions will not be used to evaluate individual registrants.  The intent is to use the information gathered to evaluate the state of the program, samples, and hopefully shed some light on what some of the results we have been seeing mean.
(Required.)
Making Adjustments?
For Which Asbestos Type
Are you making any adjustments to the counts that are reported to AIHA? If so, for amosite, chrysotile, or both?
5.When thinking of AAT Asbestos samples in general:(Required.)
Amosite
Chysotile
How would you classify the average length of the fibers?
1 (short ~5µm) - 5 (extremely long)
How would you classify the average thickness of the fibers?
1 (very thin and wispy) - 5 (very thick >2µm)
How would you classify the amount of fiber clumps?
1 (very few clumps per 100 fields) - 5 (many clumps per 100 fields)
How would you classify the distribution of the fibers on the filter?
1 (not at all evenly distributed) - 5 (very evenly distributed)
How well did the filters clear during sample preparation?
1 (did not clear very well) - 5 (cleared very well)
If more than one analyst counted your samples, how would you rate the consistency within your analysts?
1 (not consistent) - 5 (very consistent)
Tell us about the samples we send to you.
6.Are fibers in clumps or other structures making counting difficult?(Required.)

7.Are the fibers thicker or thinner than what you observe in field samples?(Required.)
Thicker or Thinner?
