Thank you for your interest in helping the ACE Department recruit our FALL 2024 ACE Student Leaders! We depend on you to nominate students who are representative of MCC’s diverse population for the following ACE Student Leader roles:

Peer Tutor: Student, who has achieved a B+ or higher in the courses in which they are to tutor, works in the ACE tutoring center and provides one-on-one appointments, either face-to-face or online, in a specific discipline/subject.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader: Student, who has completed your class with a B+ or higher, works closely with you and the students in your class – attends class sessions (if possible), offers group study sessions each week, and has availability for one-on-one tutoring appointments.

Embedded Tutor: Student, who has completed your class with a B+ or higher, works closely with you and the students in your ELL, ENG 092, ENG 109, ENG 101, or ENG 102 class – attends class sessions (if possible) and offers one-on-one or group tutoring sessions.

Blackboard Ambassador: Student, who supports an online course (asynchronous, synchronous, or hybrid) for the first four weeks of the semester. They provide students the help navigating the Bb shell but do not offer any course content tutoring.

*If you are teaching a Hyflex course and would like to recommend a student to support your class, please fill out and request an "Embedded Tutor." The student must be available to attend your class face to face and be comfortable using technology to assist in the classroom.*
Please note: Great student leaders are not born that way, but they are cultivated in the A.C.E. We take students who are committed to learning, and develop their leadership potential. A student who has a solid B in a class because he/she works hard is a good candidate to become a student leader. Some of our most successful student leaders came to us shy and lacking in confidence, but with a willingness to try out something new. After two or three semester, they blossomed beyond tutoring to helping at training meetings and even presenting at conferences. They recognized their own potential which empowered them to take more risks and apply to programs that they hadn’t considered before their time in the A.C.E. We count on faculty to recognize that potential in a student, and recommend him/her/they to join our team.

PLEASE NOTE: You can recommend multiple students to be considered for various ACE Student Leader roles.

This form is for NEW student recommendations and/or to confirm a RETURNING Student Leader who plans to support your course in the spring as an SI Leader or Embedded Tutor.
