The Arkansas Bilingual Interpreter Credential in Education (ABICE) is a professional credential training program for bilingual adults who serve as interpreters in educational settings from birth through 12th grade.

The 40-hour course is conducted virtually through Google Classroom and Zoom during a 2 - 2/12 week period.  The same content as in the previous face-to-face ABICE training courses is covered and also includes information on Virtual Remote interpreting (VRI).

Fluency Assessment: You must demonstrate bilingual oral language proficiency through a fluency assessment in English and your target language to attend the course. This will be scheduled after your application is accepted for the course.

Application: Links to applications will be posted on the Welcome the Children Website https://uofapartners.uark.edu/projects/welcome-the-children/ as training courses are scheduled. Due to the interactive design, slots are limited to 30 participants per training course!

COST: $325/participant. This includes the entire credential training course (40 hours), the prerequisite bilingual oral language fluency assessment; and all course materials.  Once your application is accepted, you will receive instructions by email on how to pay online or request an invoice.

Questions may be sent to Brenda Reynolds at bkreynol@uark.edu.
