Board of Education Meeting Public Comment Registration
The Board of Education and district administration welcome community member engagement and support of Columbia Public Schools. The public is invited to communicate with the Board of Education and district administration through a variety of avenues, including personal meetings, email, written correspondence, and at community events. Additionally, the public is welcomed to address comments to the Board at regularly scheduled meetings through online communication, in writing at the meeting, and in person at the meeting.
If a patron would like to register to make public comment during a regularly scheduled Board meeting about school-related matters or action items on the Board's agenda, they can submit a request by completing the public comment registration process. Registration for public comment can also be completed in person and submitted to the Board Secretary at 1818 W. Worley Street. Registration may also be completed via phone by contact the Board Secretary at 573-214-3400.
Public comment registrations will be accepted online, in-person or via phone in advance of Board meetings up to 12:00 p.m. the day of a regularly scheduled Board meeting or 4 p.m. on the working day before a regularly scheduled work session meeting of the Board.
Per Board policy BDDH-1, 30 minutes will be designated for public comment at the meeting. Individuals registering for public comment will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis, with individuals registering to address action items on the agenda being permitted first opportunity to speak. If time remains in the designated comment period, individuals registered for comment on school-related matters will be provided time to speak.
Comments by any one person are limited to 3 minutes and each person will only be allowed to comment once during a regularly scheduled Board meeting. Only comments addressed to the subject matters designated on their registration form will be received at the Board meeting.
