About the project

The 14th Street Transit & Truck Priority Pilot Project was implemented on October 3rd, 2019, aiming to improve service for the M14A/D Select Bus Service. From 6AM – 10PM only buses, trucks, and emergency vehicles are allowed to drive through on 14th Street, from 3rd Avenue to 8th Avenue heading westbound, and 9th Avenue to 3rd Avenue heading eastbound. Other vehicles are allowed to drive for local trips but must make the next available right-turn off of 14th Street.  Additional changes made in the project area include: new pedestrian space around Union Square, changes to curbside regulations, painted curb extensions to shorten pedestrian crossings, and bus boarding platforms.
