1)  The Town of Okotoks 2020 Waste Management Plan has a goal to divert 80% of the waste produced in Okotoks from the landfill. To assist with achieving this goal, the Town of Okotoks implemented the Universal Cart Program in October 2016.

The Town of Okotoks Eco Center offers specialty recycling programs for items such as clothing, coffee K-Cups, expanded polystyrene (e.g. Styrofoam™), household hazardous waste, paint, electronics, empty oil containers, CFL/tubes, printer cartridges, spray nozzles, batteries, and propane tanks.

3)  Weed control is a common concern for residents in Okotoks.

* As described in the Town’s Integrated Pest Management Plan, the Town of Okotoks has an acceptable weed threshold criteria for treating weeds, such as dandelions, on public land. Where weed coverage exceeds 5% around or at Town buildings and sports fields or 15% in other manicured turf areas, herbicide is used. All herbicide is applied using certified applicators with notification signage posted. The Town should:
