Upper Lachlan Shire Council is responsible for local planning and land management throughout the Local Government Area (LGA) including the management of flood prone land. As part of the Flood Risk Management process it is important for Council to have a clear understanding of the potential for flooding within the LGA with ample lead time for emergency services to alert and evacuate residents and itinerants. This requires both pre-knowledge of the catchment flood behaviour as determined through Council flood studies as well as forecasting and real-time data collection as part of a Total Flood Warning System (TFWS).
Council has engaged NSW Government’s Manly Hydraulics Laboratory (MHL) to prepare this Flood Warning Systems for the Crookwell, Taralga, Gunning, and Collector in NSW’s Upper Lachlan Shire local government area. The information provided will help the Consultant and Council to develop the flood warning systems for the cummunity. This Community Survey is voluntary.
