This survey is intended for current or recently-retired faculty, either full- or part-time, who have participated in college or university dance auditions within the past five years. Auditions might be for a faculty-directed student dance company, a faculty-directed ad-hoc group with revolving membership, or an individual dance piece to be presented as part of a larger program or on its own. This survey is anonymous and will be used solely for research purposes.
The primary purpose of the study is to understand faculty attitudes on gender regarding auditions and casting procedures used at colleges and universities. Secondarily, the study hopes to gain an understanding of the varied selection procedures, including auditions, used in dance departments and programs. The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
