SURVEY 2016/1 |
Cross-cultural perception of Business Ethics and Leadership Style.
Dear Respondent,
An ethical climate is crucial for business and governance. The creation of this ethical climate requires the development of a culture where each individual is driven to behave according to the prevailing and driving norms and values standardized by a society to enforce high moral standards. Building on the theory of moral development, the purpose of this study is to determine which demographic factors of the respondents are related to ethical decision making. It will be interesting to know if culture, ethnicity and religious beliefs influence ethical decision making and leadership style. This will help me to develop a framework incorporating perceptions from a variety of respondents from countries all over the world and would provide useful information to the academics and researcher to undertake further work in this field. At this stage I intend to include students and staff in WA universities and will focus first on Murdoch University (onshore students and staff only). In the next stage I would be including other professionals and social groups and extend this research to all national universities and subsequently to major universities around the world.

Specifically I need responses from you. In Part-I, I ask for your demographic related information. In Part-II, I have provided some scenarios and ask for your opinion. In Part-III, I seek your response on questions related to leadership style. The survey takes about ten to fifteen minutes to complete. I will tabulate the responses and analyse the results which will help me in sharing with you and other academics and in adapting our specific units and other related units to incorporate ethical business dimensions.
The results of this study will be posted on Murdoch University Announcements (both staff and students pages) and also published in an academic journal and as such available for your viewing. Any information that is obtained in connection with this study and that can be identified with you will remain confidential. The data may be used in subsequent studies, in publications and in presentations under the conditions of confidentiality noted above.
