1. CSM101 Mentor Application for Fall of 2015

Dear Prospective Mentor,

CSM101 underwent extensive curriculum and structural changes over the past several years. As a positive outcome, more individuals from across the campus are interested in serving as CSM101 Mentors, and placement is a bit more competitive.

CSM101 Mentors serve a unique and vital role. As one of the first and most paramount campus representatives, Mentors are intentionally positioned to connect with our incoming, first-year students.

Accepted Mentors are expected to teach twelve classes, work collaboratively with two Peer Mentors (students), and facilitate the course and the respective lesson plans associated. Moreover, Mentors are expected to provide assistance, support, and care for the 20-25 students enrolled in their respective class.

In full, Mentors should expect to dedicate 2-3 hours of CSM101 work, per week (this includes one hour of teaching). For their service, Mentors are rewarded a substantial stipend in their December paycheck. Stipends for 2017-2018 are estimated to be $850.00.

As a committee, the Lead Mentors and Jessica Keefer (as coordinator) work to assist and support you. Through consistent communication, updates, check in meetings, and a mandatory August training, no Mentor should ever feel overwhelmed, confused, or without assistance.

We encourage you to apply! We are able to hire 44 Mentors in total for this upcoming fall. Any questions or concerns may be directed to Jessica Keefer at jkeefer@mines.edu
